Think about it!!

If you're going to buy yourself a snake/python, the first thing your going to need to do is reserch. Find out all you can about the snake/python you plan to keep. The setting up process of the terrarium/home for your new reptile will differ between species. Correct living conditions are important to the health of your snake. You can either build or purchase your snake's new home.

Snakes are really highly modified members of the huge lizard clan. Unlike most of their cousins, though, snakes don't need legroom. Even the most active snakes limit their activity and can survive quite contentedly in a terrarium with far less space than would be required by a limbed lizard of similar length. But this should not be taken as license to be stingy in providing accommodations -- even a three-foot snake should be housed in a terrarium at least half as long as the snake.

Snakes are notorious escape artists, so make sure your terrarium is escape proof.

Experienced keepers design a thermal gradient into a terrarium: one side of the cage has a heat lamp and is open, for basking. The other side has rocks, flowerpots, or other hiding places where the snake may escape the heat. Why is a refuge so important? Snakes cannot perspire or turn on air conditioning, so their bodies continue to heat up until they die unless they have a place to get in out of the heat. Many will also retreat into a water dish.

Housing

Snakes are reptiles that thrive in hot climates. Even temperate species, such as garter and hognose snakes, prefer those days when temperatures boost above 29. There are two important things to remember concerning heat for snakes: first, they must be kept warm, unless hibernating, and second, they must always have a refuge away from the heat.

How do you provide heat? Light bulbs are fine, but be sure you have thermometers/thermostats at both ends of the terrarium. You want about a 10-degree difference between ends. If you live in a particularly cool environment you may want to think about also having heat pads that go outside and under the terrarium.

Most Pet like snakes will take rats/mice. when small they will feed of fuzzys (small baby mice bought dead and frozen from a pet shop) and when older they will graduley end up on fully grown adult rats. Never feed two snakes in the smae cage dus to fights! Always wash you hands after handling the dean rodent because you will have the sent of rodent on you and the snake will bite and try to swallow your hand, trust me i know from experience!
